The Perspektywy Women in Tech Foundation every year acknowledges Top women working in various technologies. The Foundation's aim is to inspire, connect and support women in technologies, science and innovation. In previous years we have created the rankings of TOP 100 Women in AI, Cloud Computing, 5G and Cybersecurity and awarded the TOP 10 in those categories.
With this award we would like to honor the top women in the area of Data Science in Poland: the pioneers who are walking down the paths less taken, who reach further and dare to dream bigger, for whom sky's the limit. We treat Data Science in a broad perspective, looking for women who contribute to the field of data science through groundbreaking studies, who use data analytics, machine learning, and related technologies to drive entrepreneurial success, but also mentors, evangelists and leaders.
The awards will be granted by the jury chaired by Dominika Bettman - General Manager at Microsoft Poland, including experts: Edith Elkind - Professor at the University of Oxford, Katarzyna Szymielewicz – President of the Panoptykon Foundation, Bianka Siwinska - President of the Perspektywy Education Foundation, Piotr Sankowski - CEO at IDEAS NCBR.
This year, the jury of the TOP100 Women in Data Science decided to award an additional distinction - Data Science Icon - for overall research, scientific work, and social impact to Margot Gerritsen, professor (emerita) in the Department of Energy Resources Engineering at Stanford University, interested in computer simulation and mathematical analysis of engineering and natural processes. From the beginning of her career, Gerritsen was determined to change the male-dominated data science environment and created the hugely popular "Women in Data Science Conference", which highlighted the contributions of women in this field around the world.
