OUR ADVOCACY: Ideas We Promote and Support Every Day

Perspektywy Women in Tech actively engages in advocating for equality during industry conferences, panel discussions, and business events. We promote not only science and technology but also diversity and inclusivity as the foundations of a sustainable future. Recently, we’ve addressed the following topics:

ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD

At the panel discussion “Artificial Intelligence and Technological Waves of Change in the 21st Century – Cooperation or Global Rivalry?”, held during the conference celebrating President Aleksander Kwaśniewski’s 70th birthday and the 20th anniversary of the Amicus Europae Foundation, Bianka Siwińska (PWIT) joined:

Edwin Bendyk, President of the Batory Foundation;

Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs of Poland;

Agnieszka Jankowska, Chair of the Digitalization Council and Vice President of the Digital Poland Foundation;

Marta Poślad, Director of Public Policy for Central and Eastern Europe at Google;

Patrik Schneider-Sikorski, Partner at the NATO Innovation Fund;
Tomasz Rożek, Founder and President of the “Nauka. To Lubię” Foundation.

Together, they discussed the opportunities and risks that artificial intelligence presents to modern humanity and the world.

ON QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES AND WOMEN’S ROLE IN CONQUERING THEM

At TEDxWarsawWomen 2024, Bianka Siwińska delivered an inspiring talk highlighting the untapped opportunities in the realm of quantum technologies and qubits, emphasizing that this cutting-edge field remains open and not dominated by men.

She passionately shared how quantum technology, though complex and demanding, creates unique opportunities for those willing to take on the challenge. She emphasized that women, with their creativity, teamwork skills, and unconventional approaches, have the potential to become leaders in this domain.

Siwińska showcased examples of women breaking stereotypes and achieving success in quantum technologies, encouraging the next generation to follow in their footsteps. She reminded the audience that diversity at this stage of development could significantly shape the future of quantum technology.
"Quantum technology is not just a technological revolution - it’s an opportunity to create a new, fairer world of science and innovation where diversity is the norm, not the exception," she stated.

ON EQUALITY, DIVERSITY, AND OVERCOMING INVISIBLE BOUNDARIES

At TEDx T-Mobile, Sandra Wiktorko delivered a thought-provoking talk about visible and invisible boundaries—those we often fail to see while living in a European country, a big city, or working in a great job.

Sandra shared her journey of recognizing these invisible barriers—biases, stereotypes, cultural differences, and systemic inequalities—that shape lives in ways many do not realize. She emphasized the importance of identifying these boundaries to dismantle them and foster inclusion.

Her speech served as both a personal reflection and a universal call to action, urging society to notice and deconstruct such barriers.
"Equality is not about treating everyone the same but understanding that each of us starts from a different place and needs different things to succeed," she emphasized.

ON COURAGE AND AUTHENTICITY

Why is being yourself in the workplace so important? What are the consequences—for both employees and employers—of having to hide one’s identity, orientation, or life aspirations?

These critical questions formed the basis of a candid conversation between Martyna Wojciechowska and Sandra Wiktorko, part of the educational and mentoring program “New Us in IT” by the Central IT Center.

Sandra shared her experiences and insights on how a lack of authenticity in the workplace impacts mental well-being, efficiency, and engagement. She highlighted the emotional toll of concealing one’s identity and its potential to lead to burnout.

The “New Us in IT” program aims to support diverse talent in the tech sector by fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive and contribute, regardless of their identity.

ON HUMAN RIGHTS

Bianka Siwińska participated in the panel discussion "Storyleaders – Human Rights, Diversity, Democracy, and Legal Stability" during the Polska Moc Biznesu Congress.

The panel addressed key challenges in protecting human rights in contemporary societies, the impact of cultural and social diversity on the development of democracy in Poland and globally, and the actions public and private institutions can take to promote legal stability and democratic values.
