If BUSINESS, then only sustainable, diverse, respectful, supportive, and inclusive for all! It is in the BUSINESS category that Perspektywy Women in Tech has been honored with the Crown of Equality in the Campaign Against Homophobia's poll for this year's Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit, along with the accompanying event "FUTURE OF TECH IS QUEER", organized in collaboration with Roche, Netflix, ING, and LesWhoTech. During the event, we celebrated equality, diversity, and inclusivity in technology, business, and the workplace.
We are deeply grateful for the recognition of our long-standing efforts, not only for the LGBTQ+ community but for all individuals who are excluded, overlooked, undervalued, and treated unequally in the fields of new technologies, science, and innovation. This year, for the second time, we utilized the opportunities offered by a large-scale event visited by thousands of professionals from the Tech & IT industry. During the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2024, we organized a two-day event, "Future of Tech is Queer", prepared in collaboration with ING, Netflix, and Roche. The aim of this initiative was to emphasize the importance of non-heteronormative individuals in the Tech & IT sector, who passionately and actively shape not only the world of new technologies but also implement the ideals of equality, diversity, and inclusivity in the workplace.
"It is important to showcase one’s unique psychosexual situation as a strength and an asset," says Bianka Siwińska, President of the Educational Foundation and organizer of the event. "With a unique set of experiences, we have the opportunity to create a world, business, and technologies that meet the needs of everyone, not just a chosen group."
Among the many attractions of the LGBTQ+ zone were “Living Libraries”, featuring participants such as non-heteronormative individuals, someone in a same-sex marriage, a trans person, and a queer refugee, who shared their personal stories and served as role models for those considering coming out in the workplace.
Our goal was to demonstrate that the worlds of science, business, finance, law, and technology urgently need real change. This message was reinforced by experts working in corporate Diversity & Inclusion roles and allies from various companies and organizations.
The event “Future of Tech is Queer” also served as a platform for support, advocacy for marriage equality, networking, and exchanging views during panel discussions featuring representatives from the tech industry, business, and LGBTQ+ communities.
The grand finale of “Future of Tech is Queer” was a vibrant rainbow parade, which joyfully marched through the halls of Warsaw's Expo XXI, drawing the attention and applause of thousands of participants at the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2024.
